Battle of CUHK
Without warning the Hong Kong police force tries to storm into the Sha-Tin campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the excuse that objects were thrown onto the Tolo highway from Bridge No.2 next to the campus. They suggested their intention was to only secure the bridge to ensure public safety and prevent the blocking of traffic.
Students rushed to defend their campus grounds refusing the police’s unlawful entry. Using supplies they can gather, they barricaded the entry points to fend off the officers. As a result the police fired over 2000 rounds of tear gas and used rubber bullets to attack the students.

They also barged onto campus grounds to make arrests and displayed their physical violence once again.

By nightfall, the scenes at the campus is similar to the war zone as students pushed back the police presence and tries to regain control of Bridge No. 2 keeping the police at bay.
Even alumni returned to campus in support of the students as they understand the importance of campus grounds. As it signifies a place protecting the freedom of knowledge, and a safe place for students to think critically and independently without any infringement of their rights and freedom.
Meanwhile the police appears to be adamant in gaining entry onto campus grounds as their send huge amount of reinforcements.
The efforts of the students should be applauded for defending their home against the tyrannical force of the police. It is still unknown why police is so adamant to siege the campus grounds, however it should be noted that 99% of Hong Kong’s internet traffic of information is conducted on servers that are supported by CUHK. One of the core sites of these servers also is on the Sha-Tin campus.
