Insanity
Starting with the celebrations of Halloween in the famous Lan Kwai Fong strip of bars that are frequented by locals and expats. Hong Kong Police shut down the area blaming protesters for holding the area hostage because people came out in costumes with political messages. It appeared to be a foreshadow of what was to take place this weekends as protests and demonstrations continued in different districts in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Police have reverted to their animal instincts and are no longer bound by any laws since they no longer subjected to any repercussions for their actions. Their aggression towards reporters and the press have been well documented, and now it appears their brutality have also extended to firefighters that have been tasked to standby for assistance.
As seen below a firefighter was complaining about tear gas hitting his fire truck which led to a physical altercation between him and several officers. In an attempt to hide their hostility, the police also pepper sprayed the reporters to avoid their filming.
The violence towards reporters continues as police aims to coerced press they feel provide negative coverage towards their action instead of reflecting on their own behaviour.
Independent journalism and freedom of information is severely under threat in Hong Kong as reporters are met with physical violence everyday. As well as, the police are seeking court injunctions to shut down online forums such as LIHKG for “inciting violence” for self-organized protests and sharing of police brutality.
In addition to this, bystanders and protesters continue to experience injustice everywhere they go. In their typical fashion, police rejects any type of organized peaceful protests or marches. The moment people gather police suppresses them early and try to deter people from gathering. Any body who refuses to leave or just happens to walk by will be coerced by physical violence.
With US suspending any sales of riot gear to the Hong Kong police force, they have switched to using Chinese made products specifically tear gas canisters. However it has been documented that the Chinese made products are extremely unstable and often explodes in high temperatures causing a huge risk for public safety.
Even if local residents gather on private property to voice their opinions in shopping malls are still met with police brutality. Despite the police have no authority on private grounds without a search/arrest warrant, they openly defy laws and their superiors’ orders to attack peaceful demonstrators and shoppers.
Without warning they use pepper spray, fire rubber bullets and use batons to beat anybody they “suspect” to be a protester despite elders and children are present.
In another display of white terror where pro-communist supporters attack peaceful protesters and democratic activists, this weekend also saw a man who stabbed several bystanders in addition to biting the ear off a Hong Kong district councillor standing for election.
